ATC orders to submit comprehensive report on PTV, Parliament attack cases

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Tuesday has ordered to submit a comprehensive report on the status of accused in a cases pertaining to attack on Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) and Parliament.

Judge Kausar Zaidi conducted hearing on the case during which Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Asad Umar, Arif Alvi and Ajaz Ahmed Chaudhry appeared in the court.

During the proceedings, it was informed that Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chairman Tahir-ul-Qadri, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Pervez Khattak and Jahangir Tareen are absconders in the case.

The court has directed to submit details of accused and also asked the lawyers to prepare strategy for smooth hearings of the case.

Meanwhile, the government’s counsel has sought time for arguments on exemption plea of PTI Chief Imran Khan.

Subsequently, the case has been adjourned till March 27.

On Aug 31, 2014, anti-government protestors from PTI and PAT clashed with police while marching towards the Parliament and Prime Minister House.

The clash resulted in the deaths of three participants of the sit-ins. Hundreds, including demonstrators and police officials, were wounded.
