State powerless for over two weeks, Raza Rabbani on Faizabad sit-in

Senate Chairman suggested all the people of Pakistan should be on the same page to end warlordism

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani said on Monday that the state has remained powerless for over two weeks following the Faizabad sit-in staged at the Islamabad interchange by religious parties.

Talking to an event in Islamabad today, Rabbani reaffirmed his stance that all institutions should work under their constitutional limits. “Nothing good is to be predicted. The only way to stop it if all institutions work under their limits in the constitution,” he stated.

He suggested that the people of Pakistan, political workers, journalists and institutions should be on the same page to end warlordism and decide to end it at all costs.

Highlighting the role of journalists

The chairman of the Upper House paid rich tribute to the journalists who lost their lives while working in the field.

He opined that the role of journalists is enlarged when there are weak institutions, political chaos and no vision of where the country, society and federal government is headed. He opined that the state has become helpless and nobody reacted to these issues. “We even hid Quaid’s speech,” he reminded.

He remembered those martyred due to terrorism whether working in the field as journalists or those defending the borders. Rabbani highlighted the dual standard to treat different citizens in the country despite the sacrifices from all quarters.
