Two women, 10-year-old girl released from Indian jail reach home
Fatima, her sister Mumtaz and daughter Hina were warmly welcomed on reaching home in Gujranwala.
GUJRANWALA (Dunya News) - Two Pakistani women, Fatima, her sister Mumtaz and Fatima’s 10-year-old daughter Hina returned to their ancestral city Gujranwala on Thursday after spending 11 years in an Indian jail in Amritsar.
A large number to relatives and residents of the area were present at Fatima’s residence in Dhale area of Gujranwala to welcome them. The sisters and girl child were garlanded on returning home.
Talking to Dunya News after reaching home, Fatima and Mumtaz termed their release from the Indian Jail a miracle. Earlier, Rangers personnel presented bangles and Mehdi to them at their arrival at Wahga border.
Fatima and Mumtaz were arrested by Indian authorities at the Attari railway station in 2006 on charges of smuggling drugs while they were travelling from Pakistan to India in Samjhouta train. At the time of arrest, Fatima was pregnant and had delivered a girl, Hina, in the jail.
