Peshawar: Court awards 7-year sentence, Rs 2m fine to former DPO

Peshawar Accountability Court (AC) Judge Afsir Shah on Wednesday awarded 7-year sentence and fine of Rs 2 million to former DPO Dilawer Bangish, Custom Inspector Munaver and Superintendent of Custom Ahmed Shah on charges of corruption.

The accountability court judge announced 7-year sentence and fine of Rs 2 million to three accused including former DPO DIG. The National Accountability Bureau had filed a reference of corruption against the three officials in the accountability court.As per details, M Tahir had filed an application to NAB that custom officials’ seized his consignment worth of Rs 6.3 million but did not show its actual market value in the documents. Later, the DPO had received Rs 2 million as bribe. On the application, NAB conducted an inquiry. In which all the allegations of the complainant were proved.
