The decision was made after Jehangir Tareen contacted PML-Q's Chaudhry Pervez Elahi for cooperation

Lahore (Dunya News) - Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q) has announced to support the PTI candidate for NA-120 by-election, Yasmin Rashid, which is due on September 17, according to the notification by Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

The decision was made by the opposition party after Jehangir Tareen asked PML-Q leader Pervez Elahi for his support, for the aim of strengthening the opposition against the strong ruling party. Pervez Elahi accepted the request and announced that PML-Q will support Yasmin Rashid, assuring that his party will not consider any candidate for NA-120 by-poll.

He further said that opposition parties should unite in the endeavour. Tehreek-E-Insaaf leadership expressed gratitude at the extension of support by PML-Q. ECP also announced that the public notice will be issued by the Returning Officer (RO) on August 7 while the dates for filing nomination papers will be from August 10 to 12.

PML(N) has retained the NA-120 seat in the past four consecutive elections. It had been vacated after Nawaz Sharif was disqualified in the light of Supreme Court verdict in Panama case. Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif was the possible candidate to participate in the NA-120 by-poll, however, media reports have hinted that Kulsoom Nawaz may contest against PTI s Yasmin Rashid.
