ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced to celebrate ‘Youm-e-Tashakur’ (Thanksgiving Day) on Friday if Panama case verdict comes in its favor.

According to details, PTI Chairman Imran Khan will come out on streets to celebrate the decision, and suggestions have been made to hold a public gathering at Islamabad’s Parade Ground.

PTI spokesperson Naeemul Haque has told media that Imran Khan is going to chair a meeting today (Wednesday) to discuss possible outcomes of Panama case. Naeemul Haque said that PTI will definitely celebrate if decision comes in its favor, and will invite the workers from all over Pakistan to participate in the celebrations.

It is pertinent here to mention that PTI played the most significant part to ensure the accountability of Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif and his family after it was revealed through the leaked Panama papers that all three children of PM Nawaz owned offshore companies in international tax havens.

Imran Khan kept the pressure on Nawaz Sharif and his government by continually demanding the legal documentations of Sharif family’s foreign properties. On September 30, Khan showed his political power by holding a big public gathering in Raiwind, the town where Sharif family resides.

Imran Khan made it clear that PTI will not let Nawaz Sharif rule the country after the month of Muharram, and lockdown Islamabad if PM does not present himself for accountability.

After Imran Khan’s announcement of paralyzing the federal capital, apex court took up the case on October 20 and condensed the petitions filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Jamaat-e-Islami and Awami Muslim League against the premier. Imran Khan called off the proposed Islamabad lockdown on November 1 as Supreme Court (SC) had intervened.

The case then witnessed months of hearings as both PTI and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) submitted their respective evidences.

SC reserved the decision of Panama case on February 23 for indefinite period of time. The apex court, on April 18, revealed that it will announce the verdict of this high-profile case on April 20.
