5 authorities including OGRA and NEPRA were included in different ministries earlier by government

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Two applications of the same kind by Jahangir Khan Tareen and a local lawyer Sheraz Zaka were heard on Friday by Chief Justice of Lahore High Court Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, reported Dunya News.

The orders of including five authorities including Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) in different ministries were challenged in both applications. Lawyer of Jahangir Tareen Fawad Chaudhry expressed reservations on the matter saying that no approval was taken from the cabinet and Council of Common Interests prior to submerging authorities into the ministries.

LHC has given a final call to Attorney General of Pakistan to submit his reply in response to the claims. “It is unconstitutional to make authorities like OGRA and NEPRA as subordinates of ministries”, Fawad Chaudhry claimed.

He stated that his party will knock the court’s door on every wrongdoing of government. The applications will be further heard on January 30.
