Promises made by KP government to improve security of government schools remain unfulfilled

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – The promises made by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government to improve the security of public schools after the tragic Army Public School (APS) attack remain unfulfilled as four thousands schools in the province are devoid of four walls, reported Dunya News.

The 3,900 schools including primary, middle, high and higher secondary are unprotected and deprived of basic facilities also.

Rupees 2 billion were allocated for the provision of facilities in schools. However, nobody knows where that money is. The government’s position on the matter is that it is not possible to appoint security guards in 35,000 schools.

Meanwhile, the opposition in KP assembly is criticizing the government on insufficient security measures despite huge claims.

In many districts, the condition of girls’ schools is even worse which are not only unprotected but are also deprived of the four walls. Many schools have arranged barbed wires but that too by using the parent-teacher funds.
