Indian, Afghan intelligence agencies active to sabotage CPEC: IB
Department has arrested several militants while foiling their numerous terror bids, DG IB disclosed.
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Pakistan Intelligence Bureau revealed that Indian agency RAW, Afghan agency National Directorate of Security (NDS), banned outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban, East Turkmenistan Islamic Movement (ETIM) and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi are actively making plans to disrupt multibillion-dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.
Giving briefing to the Senate Standing Committee, Director General Intelligence Bureau Aftab Sultan told that the department arrested several militants while foiling their numerous terror bids.
He said that IB offices would be established on the major routes of CPEC however, due to scarcity of manpower they would not focus on every project.
He said that the unit submits audit report over important projects including electricity and airport to the concerned people on regular basis.
Aftab Sultan said that IB and Inter-Services Intelligence Agency (ISPR) are permitted to monitor mobile phone data for country’s safety and interest.
Meanwhile, chairman of the session Senator Talha Mehmood lauded competent performance of the agency and directed to form a special wing to fail nefarious intentions of the terrorists.
He also ordered to inform the nation about real facts by giving proper coverage to action against criminal elements.
The senator said that India’s real should be unveiled at international level by raising issue of agent Kubhushan Yadav, who was detained in Pakistan over involvement in terrorism.
With the assistance of NADRA, blocked cards of several foreigners were opened, he added.
On the other hand, member of committee Shahi Syed disclosed that about 1400 open letters were issued in police department among which 700 people were recruited while 300 were named in murder cases.
He said weapons are abundant in Karachi for which local administration needs to take steps.
