NEW YORK CITY (Wed Desk) – Indian paper has claimed that Narendra Modi, Indian Prime Minister’s speech over Balochistan on August 15 was a result of pressure from Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, reported Saturday.

According to the Indian reports, both the ministers convinced Modi to raise the issue of Balochistan during India’s Independence Day speech citing Pakistan’s strategy to approach United Nations once more over Kashmir dispute.

The paper reports that the two ministers were of the viewpoint that India must take a strong stand on Balochistan to ‘teach Pakistan a lesson.’

Reportedly, some ministers and bureaucrats had advised the Indian premier against Rajnath Singh’s call as it would lead to further tensions between the two neighbours.

On the other hand, Ministry of External Affairs has refused to comment or discuss any point related to Modi’s speech.

On August 15, Narendra Modi became the first incumbent Prime Minister of India to officially raise voice for Balochistan citing violence and alleged aggression by intelligence and security agencies.

Pakistan has dubbed Modis speech as a proof of Indian involvement in Balochistan and others parts of the country. Over a dozen of spies belonging to Research and Analysis Wing have been arrested in the recent past in Balochistan and Sindh.

One of the many agents tasked with surveillance and using coercive methods to fail China-Pakistan Economic Corridor who were arrested was Kulbhushan Jadhav.

Meanwhile, United States has distanced itself from Modis speech as think tank departments warned Obama administration that open interference in the internal matters of Pakistan have a risk of creating chaos and tension.

The departments have advised Obama to give a clear message to India that it does not support Modi’s remarks on Balochistan.
