ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – National Security Advisor Lt General (r) Nasir Janjua will chair the first meeting of committee formed to monitor implementation of National Action Plan in Prime Minister Secretariat, reported Monday.

Besides members of the committee, representatives of intelligence agencies, home ministers and other officials concerned will take part in the meeting.

Attorney General of Pakistan, Chairman of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority, Chairman of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority and different federal secretaries have also been invited to attend the meeting.

The participants are scheduled to review the progress made under NAP across the country. The meeting will also look into the reasons behind delay in implementation of the strategy to foil terror attacks.

National Action Plan, a comprehensive strategy to eliminate terrorism in the country was put together after Taliban massacred over 140 people, mostly children in Army Public School in Peshawar on December 16, 2014.

Chief of Army Staff, General Raheel Sharif termed the attack a response against Operation Zarb-e-Azb in Waziristan and tribal areas.

He stated that the army anticipated a threat ever since the large-scale operation against organised terror network was launched in June 2014. The attack came within six months after the operation was launched.

National Action Plan called for close coordination among law enforcement agencies and intelligence authorities. It stressed registration of seminaries and taking note of credentials of clerics there along with students.
