Intelligence agencies given authority to go anywhere and target anyone behind the attack: ISPR DG

LAHORE (Web Desk) – Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General (DG) Lieutenant General Asim Bajwa tweeted on Monday that special combing operations have been ordered after the attack on Quetta’s Civil Hospital that left 63 dead.

ISPR DG tweeted that during the meeting held under the leadership of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif after the Quetta blast, it was decided that intelligence agencies shall be given authority to go anywhere in the country and to target anyone who was responsible for the horrific attack.

Lieutenant General Asim Bajwa tweeted that the attack was an attempt to undermine the improved security situation in Balochistan, further stating that the attack was aimed at the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project. ISPR DG stated that the terrorists had shifted their focus to Balochistan after the security forces were able to defeat them in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

The high-level meeting was attended by Balochistan Chief Minister (CM) Nawab Sanaullah Zehri and the province’s Chief Secretary. Commander Southern Command was also present in the meeting.

Blast at Quetta’s Civil Hospital at Monday morning left 70 dead whereas scores were injured. Lawyers and media personnel were among those who lost their lives in the tragedy.
