The exchange of greetings and sweets between Pakistani and Indian forces is a routine feature.

LAHORE (Web Desk) – In an exchange of customary greetings, Pakistan Rangers gifted sweets to personnel of India’s Border Security Forces (BSF) on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr on Wednesday.

Pakistani Wing Commander Bilal presented sweets to Indian Border Security Force (BSF) Deputy Inspector General JS Oberoi at the India Pakistan Wagah Border Post, about 35 kms from Amritsar.

The three-day Eid festival, which begins after the sighting of a new crescent moon, marks the end of the fasting month of Ramazan during which devout Muslims abstain from food and drink from dawn to dusk.

The exchange of greetings and sweets between Pakistani and Indian forces is a routine feature between the two countries but last year the practice was called off on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr due to tensions along the border, with both sides accusing the other of violating the ceasefire agreement at the Line of Control (LoC).

However last year, border troops along the LoC had exchanged sweets on the occasion of India‘s Republic Day in January, on Pakistan‘s 68th Independence Day on Aug 14 and in November on the occasion of Diwali.
