PM should inform commission about Panama Leaks scandal: Aitzaz

A specific type of financial fraud was committed through the Panama Leaks, Aitzaz said

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Aitzaz Ahsan on Monday stated that Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif’s name should be included in the Panama Papers, adding that he must inform about the scandal to the commission formed to investigate the matter, reported Dunya News.

While addressing a press conference after the meeting of the joint opposition parties concluded, Aitzaz Ahsan said that a specific type of financial fraud was committed through the Panama Leaks, further stating that the Prime Minister should bring forth details about his assets to the media if they were revealed through the Panama Leaks.

He added that PM Nawaz should inform how was he able to make this much wealth. He further enquired that the PM should explain whether this was money received through inheritance or earned through a deal with a person or made through a business agreement. He stated that the Prime Minister is liable of sharing all such details.

Awami Muslim League (AML) leader Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed said that the government should accept this particular Term of Reference (TOR) proposed by the Opposition parties if it wants democracy to prevail in the country.

Tariq Afridi stated that Opposition was not a hurdle in democracy’s path. He said that the primary demand placed forward by the joint opposition parties was that the process of accountability must begin from the Prime Minister and his family.
