PM Nawaz performs groundbreaking of Multan-Sukkur motorway

SUKKUR (Dunya News) – Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif has performed ground breaking of 393 kilometre (Km) long Sukkur-Multan motorway section during his visit, Dunya News reported Friday.

PM Nawaz was received by Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Qaim Ali Shah on his arrival.

The Sukkur-Multan section is part of a major project, Peshawar-Karachi motorway. It is a part of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and will be completed with help of the neighbouring country.

The six-lane motorway will pass through Multan-Jalalpur Peerwala Ahmed Pur East, Ubaro and Pano Aqil and will terminate at Sukkur.

The section will have 11 interchanges and ten rest-areas. A total of around 54 bridges are to be constructed in the project with one major bridge on River Sutlej.

According to spokesperson of the PM House, Multan-Sukkur motorway would pass through major districts of Punjab and Sindh including Sukkur, Ghotki, Multan, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan.

Earlier this week the Prime Minister paid a visit to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led (PTI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and announced construction of a university in Lakki Marwat. He announced that the government would built an international airport in Bannu as well.

PM Nawaz had addressed a gathering in Bannu and lambasted the provincial government. He said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) would establish a  new Khyber Pakhtunkhwa beating PTIs hollow claims.

The premier was accompanied by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Fazlur Rehman who took the podium before the Prime Minister to call out PTI and other opposition parties on the alleged corrupt practices.
