Pakistan refuses to give India consular access to captured RAW officer: sources
Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry held meeting with Indian counterpart in New Delhi.
NEW DELHI (Web Desk) – In a clear message to India, Pakistan Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry has told his Indian counterpart S. Jaishankar that Pakistan cannot give consular access to apprehended RAW agent Kulbhushan Jadhav, sources told Dunya News.
Jadhav, an Indian Navy officer and agent of the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), was captured near Balochistan’s Chaman town on March 3, 2016. He has already confessed to involvement in subversive activities in Pakistan in a video released by the authorities.
During his meeting with Jaishankar on the sidelines of Heart of Asia Conference in New Delhi today (Tuesday), Aizaz Chaudhry stated that the Indian spy is being interrogated in the light of his confessional statement, thus, consular access cannot be granted as it is matter of the national security, sources told.

Expressing serious concern over the RAW‘s activities in Pakistan, he said such acts undermine efforts to normalize relations between the two countries.
Aizaz Chaudhry also conveyed concern over the efforts by the Indian authorities for the release of the prime suspects of the Samjhauta Express blasts.
Meanwhile, the foreign secretary underscored Islamabad‘s commitment to have friendly relations with all its neighbours, including India.
