Separate road mishaps in Karachi, Lahore leave four dead
Police personnel have launched investigation into both incidents.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – At least two people were dead in a collision between oil tanker and car at Super Highway in Karachi today (Saturday).
A speeding tanker crashed into a car and the oil leakage fuelled an inferno engulfing the vehicle.
Rescue teams arrived at the scene after the mishap and shifted the victims to nearby hospital for medical assistance. A fire tender also reached the area and doused the blaze.
On the other hand, as many as two people were killed as a speeding car collided with motorcycles in Lahore on Friday night.
The incident took place near Fortress Stadium when a car lost control and rammed into motorcycles coming from the opposite side.
The mishap claimed two lives while a sixteen-year-old Ibrahim who was driving a car was apprehended for further investigation. The deceased have been identified as Abdullah and Shahzad. Police officers have handed over the corpses of the victims to their families.
Deadly accidents are common on roads across Pakistan due to bad road infrastructure and rampant disregard of traffic laws.
Over 9,000 road accidents are reported to the police every year, killing on average around 5,000 people, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
