Cannot risk lives of citizens under the title of freedom of expression says Islamabad DC

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad on Friday refused Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) request to arrange a procession in the F-9 Park on April 24, reported Dunya News.

In a letter written back to PTI by the city’s administration, it has been stated that due to the imposition of section-144 in the city, organising processions, rallies, display of weapons and use of loud speakers is prohibited; as the everyday movement and basic rights of the locals of Islamabad are affected because of the processions.

The administration has also expressed its concerns that public gatherings can become easy targets of terrorism. Deputy Commissioner added that the lives of the citizens of Islamabad and those belonging to other areas cannot be risked under the title of freedom of expression.
