LAHORE (Dunya News) – Recently recovered abducted son of slain former Punjab Governor Salman Taseer, Shahbaz Taseer on Saturday has stated that fear can imprison you while hope can give you freedom.

In a message on social networking site Twitter, Shahbaz Taseer stated that fear and fright can make you a prisoner whereas having hope can set you free.

Shahbaz Taseer was kidnapped on August 26, 2011 and was reunited with his family members after almost five years.

Taseer had been abducted by gunmen from the city of Lahore in August 2011, months after his father Salman Taseer was killed for opposing the country‘s blasphemy laws and was recovered after almost five years, just over a week after his father’s killer was hanged.

New significant revelations were also made during Dunya News program “Dunya Kamran Khan Kay Sath” regarding  Shahbaz Taseer’s release from extremist militants after his abduction from Lahore in 2011. According to the latest revelations, Taseer was dropped in Kuchlak area of Balochistan province on advice of Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Mansour.

Sources from Taseer’s family have also informed that he was tortured during his captivity as well.

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) have never officially confirmed their involvement in the kidnapping, but a militant source told that an army operation in the tribal areas had made it "difficult" for the group to keep him.
