PTI Chairman says intraparty elections to be held in April, demands Azad Kashmir election under army

ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has on Thursday said that former Karachi Mayor Mustafa Kamal has confirmed PTI’s stance about rigging. He added that PTI’s intraparty elections will be held in April. He also demanded the Azad Kashmir elections to be held under army surveillance, reported Dunya News.

In a press conference held in Islamabad, Imran Khan said that Mustafa Kamal’s statement has confirmed PTI’s stance about rigging but the rumours about him joining PTI are premature. He demanded Azad Kashmir elections to be held under army surveillance and verification of votes from NADRA before elections.

Talking about Pakistan’s defeat at the hands of Bangladesh in Asia Cup, Imran Khan said that Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif and Chief Executive of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Governing Body Najam Sethi should have been jointly awarded the Man of the Match award. “There is no institution in the country where Nawaz didn’t appoint a favourite”, said Khan.

Addressing a press conference, Kamal said everyone including people, party members and establishment knew that MQM leadership had connections with the Indian top intelligence agency RAW.

Making startling revelations, he said Altaf Hussain has become sahib (boss) from bhai (brother), adding that he doesn’t care about anyone.

“Altaf Hussain doesn’t care about anyone but himself”, he said.

“When Scotland Yard raided houses of Raabta Committee members, everything became clear”.

The former mayor asked why can’t MQM chief come clean to party’s followers just like he did to the Scotland Yard.

He further said that Altaf Hussain poses as this innocent person who is painted as bad by establishment, adding that the innocent followers actually believed their community is being subjected to crimes sponsored by state just on their chief’s urging.

Mustafa Kamal told reporters that today s press conference is based on three points. He said he will reveal that why he and Anees Qaimkhani quit Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) left Pakistan in 2013. Why is he in Pakistan now and what will he do now.

"I had been a senator for a few months when I left my position, usually those who leave the MQM are kicked out but we left of our own accord," he said.

Recalling some glimpses from the past, he said: "When the 2013 elections arrived, the Urdu-speaking citizens of Karachi casted more than 850,000 votes in Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf‘s favour. But the MQM, due to its organisational structure, was the only party to bounce back while remaining in government for five years."

"Despite poor governance and performance between 2008 and 2013, the MQM was able to bag two more seats in the National Assembly in last elections."

He said: "I thought the PTI was stealing almost a million votes from MQM s strongholds."

The party ended coalition with the PPP four times and rejoined it laterm, he added.

After PTI achieved success during the 2013 elections, "Altaf sahab and the MQM instead of apologising, began verbally attacking PTI women activists at Teen Talwar," he said.

Kamal said despite repeated requests, Altaf Hussain did not listen to advice by party leaders.

He said Altaf gathered his workers and was intoxicated, when he addressed his supporters at Nine Zero after the 2013 election results.
