PTI candidate challenges procedure of electing mayor, deputy mayor in IHC

The claimant complained that the authorities have illegally decided to amend the ordinance.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) candidate on Tuesday challenged the procedure of electing deputy mayor in Islamabad.
Ali Nawaz Awan stated that amendment in local body ordinance was hit by dishonesty that has been challenged in Islamabad High Court (IHC).
The plea further stated that ordinance was mulled to arrange the elections of three deputy mayors along with mayor. He demanded to restore separate procedure for electing the both representatives which was earlier imposed.
Law ministry, parliamentary affairs, cabinet division, Chief Election Commissioner and home secretary were named in the petition.
The claimant further complained that the authorities have illegally decided to amend the ordinance.
