LAHORE (Dunya News) – A thick fog blanketed large parts of the Punjab province late Monday night. Motorway route from Lahore to Sheikhupura was closed for traffic due to the dense fog. The extreme weather condition also wreaked havoc on the flight schedules in Islamabad.
Traffic was also affected as visibility was reduced to 20 meters on GT road from Sahiwal to Rahim Yar Khan.
Visibility was reduced to 50-100 meters from Lahore to Sahiwal on National Highway.
Maximum visibility from Lahore to Rawalpindi was 50-100 meters on Motorway M-2 due to the dense fog. At M-3 from Pindi Bhattian to Faisalabad maximum visibility was at 100-150 meters while at M-4 from Faisalabad to Gojra maximum visibility was 100-160 meters.
Motorway authorities have advised motorists to use fog lights and wipers and to remain alert. Drivers also being advised to avoid over speeding and the use of mobile phones while driving. Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel.
