Samjhota Express blast: Missing Pakistani man languishing in Indian jail
He was sentenced to four years in prison however, was kept there without any reasonable explanation
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistani who was suspected killed in 2007 Samjhota Express blast near Panipat on Friday has been revealed to be imprisoned at Ambala Jail in India.
Computer Engineer, Muhammad Irfan had visited India in 2007 to purchase equipment for his coaching centre. The ill-fated Pakistani on his way back encountered a blast near Panipat and was suspected to have been dead.
The engineer reportedly is in Ambala Jail for the past eight years while has lost memory owing to severe torture.
DNA tests conducted of the victims could not lead authorities to Irfan’s family. However, the imprisoned and mentally challenged person’s brother reached India to find his sibling. Reportedly, Mubashar found his brother in a hospital but was not allowed to meet him.
The Indian law enforcers then shifted Irfan to an undisclosed location instead of reuniting him with the family.
He was thrown in jail for violating Indian passport act. He was sentenced to four years in prison however, was kept there without any reasonable explanation. An inmate freed from the cell disclosed that Irfan was alive.
