Pakistan’s Ambassador to Kabul Syed Abrar Hussain handed over the donation to Afghan Deputy Minister of the Afghan National Disaster Management Authority Aslam Sayas, at Kabul Airport in the presence of other Afghan officials.
The Afghan officials thanked the Government of Pakistan for the generous donation.
It may be mentioned here that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had ordered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to send planeload of wheat for the people affected by recent fighting in Afghanistan s Kunduz province.
The once-quiet north of Afghanistan has seen escalating violence in recent years as the insurgency spread, and swathes of Kunduz province have repeatedly come under siege this year.
Thousands fled Kunduz due to fighting between the Taliban and the Afghan security forces after the Taliban overrun the city on September 28.
The city was retaken by the Afghan forces after a 10-day fighting. The U.S.-led forces also used aerial power to help the Afghan forces enter the strategically important city.
