Another 131 patients fall prey to dengue in Rawalpindi, toll reaches 314 in Multan

RAWALPINDI/MULTAN (Dunya News) – Another 131 patients fall prey to the deadly dengue disease in Rawalpindi today (Friday) taking the toll to 3000.
Dengue situation in the metropolis is worsening day by day with the claims of the district administration and health department regarding spray crackdown twice in a day going into vain.
During the past 24 hours an additional 3100 people were targeted by the disease. Due to the rising number of patients, beds in hospitals have fallen short. Patients admitted in allied hospitals include a large number of children and women.

Atleast 10 people have died from dengue fever this year in Rawalpindi.
Meanwhile in Multan, dengue affected patients in Multan have reached 314 whereas larva have also been found from more than 1700 places.
Despite of forming teams the disease is increasing instead of being declining as a result of which the number of patients have climb to 314 from 304 and is continuously rising.
In order to get rid of the disease, dengue control centre is being established in DCO office with a meeting also underway in this regard.

There is no treatment for dengue, which causes symptoms including fever, severe joint pain, headaches and bleeding.
About half the world’s population is at risk from the mosquito-borne disease, which sickens about 100 million people every year, mostly in Asia, Africa and Latin America.
People have been advised to use mosquito nets and insect repellents and to avoid storing water in open pots where the larvae can breed.
