Geelani has accepted the invitation but no date was given out

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) on Saturday said that Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif has invited Kashmiri leader Syed Ali Geelani to visit Pakistan.

The APHC spokesperson said that the leader was given a formal invitation letter from Sharif at Pakistan High Commissioner (HC) Abdul Basit’s residence. The Hurriyat leader met the HC at his residence in Indian capital over a dinner.

Spokesperson said that the Pakistani PM is of the opinion that good ties with India could not established without solving the longstanding dispute over Kashmir. He quoted PM Sharif, “New Delhi’s unrealistic approach has been a big hurdle in resolution of Kashmir dispute.”

The APHC said that Geelani accepted the invitation but no formal date has yet been put out.

Earlier, Pakistan-India national security advisers (NSA) level talks were cancelled after pigheaded India barred APHC leaders from meeting Advisor to PM on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz. The Pakistani HC had invited Hurriyat leaders including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Geelani for a dinner with NSA Aziz in Indian capital during his three-day visit from August 23 to 35.

The three-day visit was scheduled in connection with the Ufa understanding. Aziz was to meet Indian counterpart Ajit Doval and foreign minister Sushma Swaraj.
