PM Nawaz met Angela Merkel, Maithripala Sirisena and Bill Gates in New York

NEW YORK: (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday met German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena and co-founder Microsoft Bill Gates. PM said that Pakistan wants to acquire German technology to produce electricity from coal. He also hoped for more cricket series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, reported Dunya News.

Meeting with the world leaders on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), PM met Angela Merkel and the two leaders agreed on continuing economic cooperation between their countries. Nawaz Sharif said on this occasion that Pakistan wants to acquire German technology to produce electricity from coal. He said that both the countries must strive to increase their mutual trade from 2.3 billion US dollars to 5 billion US dollars annually.

PM also met Sri Lankan president Maithripala Sirisena and discussed the regional security and the matters related to South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC). Nawaz Sharif said that he hoped for more cricket series between the two countries.

Earlier, Nawaz met Bill Gates, who admired Pakistan’s efforts in eradicating polio from the country.
