Outlawed outfits behind Karachi unrest: Rehman

Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik said that the murder of MQM leader was planned to trigger clash between two major political parties in Karachi. Talking to media in Islamabad on Tuesday, the minister hinted at involvement of banned religious outfits including Sipah-e-Sahaba and Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan behind Karachi unrest. He warned another terrorist activity might hit the funeral of Raza Haider today, however added that police and Rangers have been put on high alert and strict security measures have been taken to avert any untoward incident. He said that a militant commander among 20 others arrested since last night in a crackdown. He said that all fake arms licenses would be scrapped and strict action would be taken against those having them. Security has been beefed up across the metropolis in view of the looming threat of further terrorist activities.
