Protest against beef ban: Indian forces detain Mirwaiz, other Hurriyat leaders
The Hurriyat leaders and other parties have called for protests after Friday prayers.
SRINAGAR (Web Desk): The Indian forces detained several Hurriyat leaders including Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik ahead of their protest against the order of the High Court banning the sale of beef in the Indian Occupied Kashmir.
The Hurriyat leaders and other parties have called for protests after Friday prayers against the anti-Muslim policies of the Indian government in occupied Kashmir.
The authorities have placed Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Ayaz Akbar, Raja Merajuddin and other Hurriyet leaders under house arrest.
The police also raided the houses of Hurriyet leaders, Javaid Ahmad Mir and Muhammad Yousuf Naqash and harassed the inmates.
Meanwhile, people staged protests against the court verdict and detention of Qazi Yasir Ahmad in Islamabad town.
The veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Kashmir is a Muslim majority territory and the court had not considered the ramification of the order.
“The decision is politically motivated and seems to have been issued with an aim to provoke communal tension in the territory and to project a wrong image of freedom struggle of the subjugated Kashmiri people,” he said.
He added that the RSS and BJP influenced the court decision.
