PM addresses nation, says Commission's report shows 2013 elections fair

Sharif expressed these views during an address to the nation.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif on Thursday stated that the Inquiry Commission’s report shows that the 2013 elections were lawful and fair. He stated that the inquiry commission investigating the accusations of rigging in elections of 2013 has given its decision. 

Sharif expressed these views during an address to the nation.

According to the details, the judicial commission was given the task of finding answers for primary questions: Were the 2013 elections carried out according to the law, was their significant rigging to change the results of the election and whether or not the mandate of election 2013 was true.

PM Sharif stated that the inquiry commission gave full opportunity to provide evidence to those making the accusations but no political party came up with any evidence. He stated that the inquiry commission gave its verdict after complete investigation for 3 months and its verdict supports the government’s stance on the issue. He stated that the commission’s all activities are now in front of the public.

The PM in his address to the nation stated that the government had given a written guarantee that if rigging is proved; it will go back to the public for fair election as the government believed that no rigging had taken place at any level.

Sharif thanked god that they had passed this test with their head held high. He stated that calling transparent elections as rigged was an ugly chapter in the country’s history. He stated that Pakistan has entered a new era after inquiry commission’s decision.

The PM in his address stated that now was not the time for hollow slogans, emotional speeches and untimely spectacles. He stated that Pakistan’s global reputation is rising and that the country is moving towards the eradication of terrorism. Sharif stated the results of Operation Zarb-e-Azb are in front of the whole nation. He also stated that no political interest can weaken their commitment.

Sharif stated that they will rid the nation of terrorism and lawlessness. He also stated that political instability stops progress and that everybody should discourage such actions. He also stated that uncertainty causes instability and that Pakistan has paid a heavy price of political instability.
The PM stated that problem will not be solved by protests on the streets but instead in the parliament. He stated that if such gaps did not occur then Pakistan would have been standing with the developed nations of the world. He also stated that they will let go of whatever has happened up until now.
