Providing proofs was ECP's responsibility: Lawyer PTI
Judicia commissions inquiry in final phase, PTI says disorganization biggest proof of rigging
ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) lawyer Abdul Hafeez Pirzada has on Monday said before the judicial commission that it was the duty of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to provide rigging proofs and not PTI’s. He said that the rules were not followed and that is the biggest proof of rigging. Judicial commission, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Nasirul Mulk has reached the final stages of the inquiry, reported Dunya News.
The arguments of the applicants have started before the commission in the light of the evidence and testimonies. PTI lawyer Abdul Hafeez Pirzada stated that according to the agreement between the PTI and the ruling Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N), Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will dissolve the assemblies if rigging is proven before the commission. He said that if PTI fails to prove its allegations, it will play its active role in the national and provincial assemblies.
Hafeez Pirzada alleged that PML-N made the plan to rig the general elections. “2013 elections cannot be declared valid in view of the mistakes committed in 2002 and 2008 elections”, he said. He said that news are being published that PTI failed to provide the proofs. “How can a party provide proofs when it does not even have the access to the record?” he questioned.
PTI lawyer said that the Returning Officers had hundreds of thousands of extra ballot papers. “Is there any account of the unused ballot papers? If yes, where is it?” he asked. He said that Form-15 were missing in large numbers throughout the country.
Chairman PTI Imran Khan has said that Form-14 is useless without Form-15. He said that the elections couldn’t be fair when there is no record of the 250 million voters.
OGRA Corruption case suspect Tauqeer Sadiq requested to be a party to the commission maintaining that there is evidence of organized rigging. However, Chief Justice returned the application ruling that the evidence collection stage is already over.
