Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir has said that the meeting between him and his Indian counterpart Nirupama Rao was constructive and fruitful. During a joint press briefing with her Indian counterpart after the long-awaited meeting on Thursday, Salman said that it has been mutually decided to keep the dialogue process intact. He said that he is sanguine about the positive outcome of the talks. Talking on the occasion, Indian Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao said that dialogue is the only way forward to bridge the trust deficit. She said that confidence building measures have been discussed in the meeting. She said that the main purpose of the talks was to understand each others position and stance.She said that PM Gilani assured PM Manmohan that Pakistan would thwart the banned outfits across the border terrorist activities.She said that both the countries needed to narrow down differences, while added that the destiny of the people of both the countries linked together.
