NA-246 maneuverings: Shia scholars support MQM, JUP sides with PTI
As political maneuverings peak in NA-246, another independent candidate withdraws in MQM's favor
KARACHI: (Dunya News) – Political maneuverings have on Monday peaked in NA-246 Karachi as Shia scholars announced support for Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) while Jamiat Ulema Pakistan – Noorani (JUP-N) announced to support Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI). Independent candidate Mehfooz Yaar Khan also withdrew in MQM’s favor, reported Dunya News.
As the 23rd of April approaches, political manipulation has peaked in the city. Political parties contesting the by-election are doing whatever they can to enhance their support base. JUP-N head Owais Noorani talked to Chairman PTI Imran Khan on phone and later announced to support PTI.
On the other hand, independent candidate Mehfooz Yaar Khan held a press conference along with MQM candidate Kunwar Naveed Jamil and announced to withdraw in his favor. He said that all the parties holding ‘tiny’ rallies in the constituency will be swept.
Zaheer Abidi and other Shia scholars also announced to support MQM in the by-election.
