Cyclone in Arabian Sea gaining intensity

The storm brewing up near Pakistan coastline in Arabian Sea has further intensified. It remained just 950km far from Karachi.The Meteorological Department warned fishermen against going to open sea and directed them to back up by todays evening. The Met Department said the cyclone is advancing at a pace of 6 nautical miles and may turn towards Pakistan after crashing into Oman. Talking about the situation, Chief Meteorologist in Karachi, Mohammad Riaz said that if a tropical cyclone is formed in the Arabian Sea, it could have equal chances of landfall in the coastal areas of Pakistan or India. In either case, the resultant meteorological changes would bring gusty winds and rains in Karachi, he said. Section 144 CrPC banning bathing / swimming in the Sea in the entire length coast line has been imposed. The cyclone may hit Thatta and Badin districts.
