Torrential rain, hail falls down in various cities including Lahore

Clouds kept playing a game of hide and seek with the sun throughout the day.

LAHORE (Dunya news) – Torrential rain and hail poured down in Lahore and various cities of the country on Monday. Western winds drifted dark storm clouds towards the cities. The skies opened up and a torrential down pour rained down on the cities along with hail and snow in some areas. Snowfall started in the northern areas of the country which is expected to continue till Sunday. Rain fell down periodically making the weather more pleasant. Clouds thundered at first and heavens’ opened up on different areas of Islamabad and Rawalpindi late in the night. Rain carried on intermittently throughout the day. The torrential downpour also made the weather more pleasing in Lahore and areas around it.


According to the details, the clouds kept playing a game of hide and seek with the sun throughout the day. Hail rained down heavily in some parts of the country as well. Rainstorm coupled with bombardment of hail laid a white sheet everywhere in Gujranwala. Dark clouds blocked out the sun and turned night into day.


Peshawar also experienced the torrential shower for many hours. The falling raindrops transformed the hills of Murree into a spectacular sight. Azad Kashmir witnessed a snowfall as clouds gathered over the area. Landline contact was cut off in area of Bagh. Haji pir experienced snowfall of 4ft. 3.5ft of snow fell in Lasdana. 3ft of snow fell in Sudhun gully and Gunga Choti. Snow made its appearance in Mirpur as well. Shangla was also blanketed by a white sheet of snow.


Weather reporters are stating that this series of showers will continue up until Sunday in the northern parts of the country. Intermittent rains and snowfall are expected in different areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Gilgit Baltistan, Kashmir and northern Balochistan.
