PIMS Hospital shooting: doctor still in critical condition
Young doctors are due to hold a strike against the incident on Monday
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The condition of PIMS Hospital doctor, who was critically wounded in firing by armed gunmen, is still in critical condition. A board to decide whether to send him abroad for treatment has also been set upon Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s direction, Dunya News reported.
Protesting against the violent shooting, Young Doctors’ Association has announced to hold strike in hospital’s OPD tomorrow (Monday).
Reportedly, Dr Shahid was attacked by unidentified attackers on Saturday just when he was about to leave for home after completing duty hours.
Upon PM Nawaz’s direction, a board comprising four expert doctors has been formed that will decide whether Dr Shahid is to be sent abroad for further treatment. The board comprises Brigadier Ghaffar, Professor Khaliquz Zaman, Professor Arif Malik and Professor Nadeem Shehzad.
PIMS Hospital spokeswoman Ayesha Esani said that the medical board will consider all possible steps about Dr Shahid’s health.
Meanwhile, Young Doctors’ Association has announced to hold strike after shutting down hospital’s OPD tomorrow (Monday).
