ISLAMABAD (Dunya News)—Supreme Court of Pakistan has delayed the hearing of the medicine case against Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) hospital in the Lahore region of Punjab. The fake medicine crisis at PIC hospital claimed the lives of over 100 patients in the year 2012. Justice Saqib said that he will take all measures to ensure health safety in the country.

A three-member bench led by Justice Mian Saqib Nisar heard the case in the Supreme Court of Pakistan. During the case hearing, the public prosecutor took a stance that a committee has been formed to look into the case.

Justice Saqib remarked that the death of patients due to consumption of fake medicines was a tragic incident. However, the people who died in reaction of medicines did not even undergo post-mortem to investigate the deaths, he added. The prosecutor said that effective measures have been taken to avoid such incidents in future.

Justice Saqib ordered the prosecutor to brief him with complete details about the case and he is ready to support the government in every possible way.
