Secy Petroleum admits irregularities in LNG contract
Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has said that no official could take decision against the law as Special Secretary J.A Sabri admitted that the French firm that has been awarded the LNG contract, did not tender bidding in this regard.During the LNG irregularities case hearing in the Supreme Court today, Secretary Ministry of Petroleum has affirmed irregularities in bidding of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) contract. Sabri told the court that the French company GDF, which was awarded the contract, had not tendered bid neither the firm had expressed interest in the bidding for LNG import contract. The bids of Fauji Foundation and other companies were neglected in the bidding process, he added. Justice Ejaz Chaudhry, a member of the bench, in his remarks said that the record shows the bidding process was not transparent while the Chief Justice in his remarks urged for making policies in the best national interest. The case would be taken up tomorrow.
