Shortage of ventilators put patients in trouble in twin cities

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – At least seven out of 10 ventilators at Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Hospital in Rawalpindi are dysfunctional, which has forced the patients to turn to private hospitals for treatment.
According to the sources, the repair of ventilator is delayed because the expenditure on one ventilator in 24-hours is Rs 10,000.
Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr Asif Mir said tender to repair ventilators caused the delay. He informed that two ventilators have been repaired whereas the remaining five would be repaired soon.
It is pertinent to mention that government hospitals in the twin cities already face insufficiency of ventilators.
