GUJRANWALA (Dunya News) – Police have registered a case against four unidentified culprits on Thursday over public display of weapons in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally that started from Chan Da Qila.
PTI’s district president Rana Naeemur Rehman was arrested upon which a large number of PTI supporters gathered outside the Model Town Police station to demonstrate and staged a sit-in.
The protesters also blocked the G T Road which resulted in large queues of vehicles.
Resultantly, Naeemur Rehman was freed from the police custody.
The rally was conducted in connection with the PTI seminar on November 23 in Gujranwala. It started from Chan Da Qila and ended on GT Road via downtown.
PTI members not only had Kalashnikovs but 222 rifles were also exhibited publicly.
Police from two police stations were appointed for the protection of the rally. The rally gave a view of a battle and looked nothing like a political activity.
Provincial Minister Ijaz Chaudhry said that it was not an exhibition of weapons but guards of the local PTI members had held licensed guns for protection from ‘Gullu Butts’.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Rana Sanaullah Khan said, while stressing the arrest of PTI members who displayed weapons, that Imran Khan stands on a container and gives a speech about violence while his people do the opposite.
