Demand of PM Nawaz's resignation not unconstitutional: Javed Hashmi
Hashmi says demanding resignation from PM in the light of one year performance is not wrong
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) — President Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Makhdoom Javed Hashmi has said that demand of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s resignation was not unconstitutional. He said that his party believed in the supremacy of constitution and the Parliament.
Talking to Dunya News, Javed Hashmi said that poor governance of Pakistan Muslim League (N) government during the last one year has proved that the government is not committed to deliver like a true democratic government.
“We respect the supremacy of constitution and the parliament. Judiciary is a supreme institution and our party means no harm to it”, he said.
Hashmi said that staging protest By PTI did not mean any harm to the public neither he believed that it was wrong.
While responding to a question about PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s earlier statement during a sit-in before the parliament regarding the demand of PM’s resignation and massive rigging in 2013 elections, Hashmi said that there was nothing wrong with that demand.
On being asked about the demand of Prime Minister’s resignation he said that to demand the PM’s resignation in context of PML-N poor governance is the constitutional right of the opposition.
On the other hand, Vice Chairman PTI Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that no negotiations at any level will be carried out by the PTI leadership unless PM resigns.
It is to be noted that PTI leadership led Azadi march on August 14th to Islamabad and has been staging protests there for the last one week. However, march and sit-in in front of the Parliament House yesterday and today ( Wednesday) morning and, tonight’s Azadi celebration at D-Chowk was likely to bring an end to week long protests.
