Bring the culprits to the book: Asif Zardari; All parties must remain peaceful: Altaf Hussain

ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Politicians from all parties have expressed concern over the clashes between Pakistan Muslim League (N) and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) in Gujranwala today (Friday). The clashes took place between workers of the two parties earlier today when PTI’s ‘Azadi March’ was passing through Gujranwala on GT Road. A large number of PML-N workers gathered at GT Road and pelted stones at the PTI convoy.

All political parties condemned the incident and expressed concern over the clashes. Political leaders believe that such events can further escalate the tension between the political rivals.

Former President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari condemned the incident calling for immediate action against the culprits. He said that those responsible for the incident must be punished.

Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah demanded arrests of the people involved in clash. He asked all political parties to remain peaceful and avoid a collision.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Altaf Hussain expressed his concern saying that both sides must respect each other’s existence. He requested all the people to remain peaceful for the sake of human lives.

Pakistan Muslim League (Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said that the attack on peaceful procession was planned. Former Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervez Elahi said that the incident has exposed the real face of Sharif brothers’ democracy.

Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has ordered inquiry into the incident. He condemned the incident and requested the workers to remain peaceful.

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Jehangir Tareen Khan accused Pomi Butt (Salman Butt), elder brother of PML-N MPA from Gujranwala Imran Khalid Butt, of master-minding the incident.

Pomi Butt offered himself for arrest. He went to Sabzi Mandi Police Station, Gujranwala, and offered himself to the police for arrest.
