Lahore: Roof collapse caused by rain kills two sisters
Rescue teams arrived on the spot and recovered the girls from under the debris.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Two real sisters were killed when roof of a house collapsed in Singhpura area of Lahore due to rain on Tuesday morning, Dunya News reported.
According to details, roof of a house in Singhpura locality of Lahore caved in on early Tuesday morning. As a result, 16-year-old Iqra and 10-year-old Muskan were buried under the debris.
Rescue teams arrived on the spot and recovered the girls from under the debris.
Iqra and Muskan were rushed to Services Hospital but they succumbed to their wounds before reaching hospital.
The relatives of the deceased refused to proceed for the postmortem, following which, the police handed over the dead bodies to them. The condition of the nearby quarters is also weary and has caused a constant worry among the residents. They said they have reported about the problem to the concerned departments but no positive response was received.
Various weather related incidents killed over half a dozen people last week as well.
Five persons were buried under the debris when roof of a house collapsed due to rain in Kot Saeed area of Lahore on Saturday night. Rescue officials evacuated the injured from the debris and shifted them to hospital where an 80-year-old woman and a five-year-old child died. The dead bodies were handed over to the heirs.
In another incident, a man namely Arshad died and his wife severely injured when roof of a house collapsed, also last week in Domoria Pull area of Lahore. The rescue teams shifted the injured woman to hospital for treatment.
The roof of a house in Gujjarpura village in Sialkot had collapsed due to heavy rain killing five children and a woman on Saturday night last week.
The accident buried the whole family under the wreckage. Eye witnesses say the late arrival of rescue teams caused the deaths of the children.
