Situation again tense in Karachi, MQM condemns violence
Markets and shops in different areas were forcefully closed by unknown men.
KARACHI (Web Desk) – Situation is once again tense in Karachi after unknown gunmen forcefully closed offices and markets in different areas on Thursday, Dunya News reported.
Earlier today, trade activities and transport resumed two days later on MQM Coordination Committee’s appeal.
Reportedly, some unidentified suspects forcefully shut shops and markets in Orangi Town, Landhi, Gulistan-e-Johar and other areas of the metropolis.
Offices at civic center were also closed.
In Hyderabad, traders in Latifabad area were warned by unknown gunmen to keep the markets shut.
On the other hand, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has condemned the incidents of violence in different areas of Karachi and Hyderabad.
The party has claimed that some elements are trying to malign MQM’s image and sabotaging peace in the city.
“MQM has already appealed traders, industrialists and transporters to resume their activities,” the party said in a statement.
The dominant party in Karachi has once again appealed its supporters to stay calm.
Talking to media, MQM leader Farooq Sattar said Altaf Hussain’s supporters are only concerned about his health.
Altaf Hussain remained in custody of London police where he is being questioned on suspicion of money laundering.
