6 including MQM worker killed in Karachi
Reportedly, MQM's worker Noman was the original target of the killers.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – At least six persons including Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) worker were killed in various incidents of violence here on Saturday, Dunya News reported.
A private school’s headmaster along with his son was shot by extortionists resulting in death of headmaster and critical injury of the son. Police at the site shot dead one of the extortionists while the other succeeded in running.
In another incident that took place at Orangi Town near Islam Chowk, unknown men opened fire at a car resulting in injury of two passengers. Both were taken to Qatar Hospital where they succumbed to injuries. Deceased were identified as Mohammad Idrees and Noman.
Mohammad Idrees was a lawyer whereas Noman was driving the car. According to police, Noman was MQM’s worker who was released from prison one month earlier and Idrees was his lawyer.
Reportedly, MQM’s worker Noman was the original target of the killers.
MQM Coordination Committee’s member Saif Yar Khan confirmed that Noman was MQM’s worker.
Lawyers started protesting as soon as the reports surfaced that resulted in closure of courts.
In another incident, a man identified as Rizwan was gunned down at Anda Morr area. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Central said that Rizwan ran a newspaper stall at North Karachi area and was also associated with an NGO.
Another man was shot dead near Metro cinema in Orangi Town.
