QWP leader among three killed in Buner blast
The blast occurred near the QWP leader's vehicle on Gokand Road.
PESHAWAR (Web Desk) – At least three people, including a leader of Qaumi Watan Party (QWP), along with two associates were killed in a roadside blast in district Buner of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Dunya News reported on Saturday.
The incident took place when Advocate Adalat Khan, the QWP leader, was heading towards district court.
It was a remote-controlled bomb blast, sources told.
Two others were also injured in the incident who were shifted to a local hospital for treatment.
Police have cordoned off the area and started collecting evidence from the blast site.
No militant group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, but a local intelligence official told AFP that Khan had supported an Anti-Taliban village militia in 2009. The head of that militia was later killed in a suicide attack in November 2012.
On the other hand, one person killed in a powerful explosion in Nasir Bagh area in Peshawar.
Police said that they are investigating the whether the man who was killed in blast was a suicide or not.
