Unknown motorcyclists targeted vehicle of ANP leader in Mashokhel area of Budha Bir.

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - Former provincial vice president of Awami National Party (ANP) Mian Mushtaq and two others were shot dead by unknown motorcyclists on Sunday.

According to police, some unidentified motorcyclists targeted vehicle of Mian Mushtaq in Mashokhel area of Peshawar killing the ANP leader, his friend and driver.

According to the sources four persons were rushed to Hayat Medical Complex but three of them died on way to hospital while condition of an injured man was reportedly out of danger. Police cordoned off the area and started search operation, however no arrest was reported.

Talking to media in Peshawar, ANP leader Mian Iftakhar Hussain said that the terrorists have been targeting ANP leaders and workers for last many years but his party would continue its struggle for change and restoration of peace in the country. He urged the political parties and the masses to get united against the menace of terrorism.

It is to mention here that a fresh wave of terrorism and violence has started across the country targeting high profile political, social, religious personalities and personnel of law enforcement agencies.

Earlier, Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) leader Amir Mukam narrowly escaped twin bomb blasts on Sunday.

According to details, twin blasts occurred near the vehicle of Amir Mukam in Martung, a sub tehsil of Shangla district, killing six security personnel while injuring two others.

The vehicle was partially destroyed while Amir Mukam escaped unhurt in the attack, the police said.

It was also reported that it was remote controlled blast while the PML-N leader was on a visit to attend a jirga in Martung.

The dead personnel include Asif Khattak, Jawad, Jaffar Shah, Qari and Fazal Sattar. The police van was completely destroyed in the blast.

Talking to a TV channel, Amir Mukam said he was safe but his six security personnel were martyred, adding that it was the sixth assassination attempt.

The PML-N leader said he was on his way to resolve an issue between two rival groups.

Amir Mukam is also the adviser to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

On Saturday, PTI leader Maqsood Ahmed Bhatti along with his four companions was shot dead near Kasur.

According to details, Maqsood Ahmed Bhatti along with his personal guards was coming to Lahore from Kasur when some unidentified gunmen opened fire at his vehicle near Lalyani.

Maqsood Ahmed Bhatti and his three guards, Yasir, Khalid and Shabbir, were killed on the spot while another guard succumbed to his wounds on way to hospital.

Residents of the area staged a protest after the incident and blocked Ferozpur Road.

In another incident, PTI’s Women Wing President Neelam Ashraf’s son Noman Ashraf was killed over a robbery resistance at Ring Road on Saturday.

According to police, it was not a case of robbery, however, family insists that Noman was killed by suspected robbers on resistance.

SSP CID, Chaudhry Aslam and three other policemen from his squad were martyred in an explosion on Lyari Espressway near Essa Nagri in Karachi last Thursday. The blast occurred when a convoy of police vehicles was passing from Essa Nagri graveyard. SSP CID Chaudhry Aslam’s vehicle was targeted in the blast.
