Faisalabad Jail riots: Kh Sharif takes suo moto notice

Lahore High Court Chief Justice has taken a suo moto notice of the riots erupted in Faisalabad Jail the other day.Chief Justice Khawaja Muhammad Sharif while taking suo moto notice, ordered the Sessions Judge Faisalabad to immediately initiate probe into the matter.He also directed the Superintendent Jail to appear before the court along with all the record on February 2 in this connection. On the other hand, a prisoner of the said jail claimed that as many as 50 captives got injured in police shelling in firing.According to sources, the dialogue between prisoners and police got successful. The clash was triggered when Superintendent Jail Tariq Sabir stripped the inmates for frisking and tortured them. On this, the prisoners scaled the roof of the jail and held a protest demonstration.The police resorted to firing and shelling to disperse the protesters in which some 50 captives got injured, an injured inmate claimed while talking to Dunya News. Police, however, denied the report. Meanwhile,talking to Dunya News, Provincial Minister Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor ruled out any firing in the jail, adding that the CM has forcefully ordered not to resort to torture.He said that the situation was completely under control and the prisoners went back in their barracks and they have also been provided meal.He said the culprits would be taken to task after the probe.
