Karachi operation to continue till complete peace: PM
Says the government desires to resolve all issues with the Taliban through negotiations.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that the targeted operation against the criminals would be taken to its logical end.
Talking to media persons here on Friday, the PM said that the targeted operation would continue till elimination of criminal elements from the city.
He said that the government would make Karachi a model city. He said the whole country would make progress when peace would be restored in Karachi.
The PM said that the hearing of criminal cases should be made speedy. He said that cases of having the heinous nature of the crime could be shifted to other provinces from Karachi. He said the government needs media s support to lead the operation to its logical conclusion.
Nawaz Sharif said the country is facing serious challenges and a strong government can take strong decisions to put things right.
The Prime Minister also recalled the steps taken by the government to bring the economy back on track and resolve the crippling energy crisis.
Talking to leading businessmen, the PM said the government desires to resolve all issues with the Taliban through negotiations.
He said negotiation process with Taliban was about to complete but an unfortunate incident derailed it. The PM said we do not want the blood of our brothers and sisters to be spilled in streets and we will make every possible endeavor to prevent it.
Referring to ongoing targeted operation in Karachi‚ the prime minister said it is only against the criminals. The criminals even if they belong to our own party will not be spared.
The prime minister said he will soon call a meeting of the leading business personalities to discuss with them ideas and suggestions to improve the economic situation.
Meanwhile, a delegation of MQM also called on PM and discussed with him law and order situation in Karachi.
According to the sources, Dr Farooq Sattar informed the PM about MQM’s concerns over the targeted operation in the city.
The PM formed a committee on the demand of MQM. The committee would also give recommendations over monitoring and situation of the targeted operation.
Earlier during a visit to Rangers Headquarters in Karachi‚ the Prime Minister expressed satisfaction over the ongoing targeted operation in Karachi. He said all out efforts should be made to restore peace in the city.
On this occasion‚ the prime minister was given a briefing on the latest law and order as well as progress in the ongoing targeted operation.
The PM also inspected the heavy weapons seized from the criminals during the targeted operation by Rangers.
