CJP vows to offer any sacrifice for independent judiciary
The chief justice was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Judicial Complex.
DASKA (Dunya News) Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chauhdry has said that lawyers foiled all the efforts to wrap up democracy in Pakistan by rendering sacrifices.
He said: “dignity of the judiciary will be protected no matter how great sacrifices we are required to render,”
The chief justice, who was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Judicial Complex, said gone are the days when the constitution was abrogated. The chief justice also applauded services of senior Supreme Court judge Jawad S.Khawaj.
The CJP said that a dictator ambushed democracy and the constitution on 12th of October 1999 but the civil society and the judiciary is now a guarantee against such adventures.
He said that lawyers and civil society will not allow any effort to abrogate the constitution to succeed in the future.
